Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is blasting the Department of Justice for its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, accusing Attorney General Pam Bondi of "continuing to hide the truth" through incomplete releases and heavy redactions. The DOJ was forced to withdraw thousands of documents after botched redactions accidentally exposed the identities of nearly 100 victims — a catastrophic failure that has drawn bipartisan outrage.
Congress passed the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act in late 2025, requiring the DOJ to release all Epstein-related documents by December 19, 2025. The DOJ has released fewer than 2.7 million of the 6 million pages it collected, with many documents heavily redacted. Schumer introduced a Senate resolution demanding legal action over the incomplete release, arguing it violates federal law. The DOJ's handling has renewed scrutiny of prominent figures named in the files — including Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Bill Clinton — though all have denied wrongdoing. The Clintons have since agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee investigating the matter.
