Governor Kathy Hochul rejected Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Council Speaker Julie Menin's request to modify a business tax credit to help close NYC's $5.4 billion budget deficit.
Mamdani and Menin sought to reduce the pass-through entity tax credit from 100% to 75%, which they estimated would generate $1 billion for the city. The city budget deadline was extended to May 12.
